Advice on curing insomnia without medication?
Are there any fellow insomniacs out there that have had any luck with methods other than medicine or herbal remedies? My insomnia makes me a zombie all day and I do not want to be dependent on pills to get enough sleep. I am constantly tired! Any tricks you would like to share?

Several years ago i had the same problem . I could not get enough sleep
and i was bringing my work home in my mind. The first thing my doctor recommended was exercise, it helped. As time went on and still not enough
sleep, He suggested on those nights to engage in romantic peasant love making. Walla it worked. After that i look forward to going to bed each night.
yeah…. this CD is really good
called "getting a good night’s sleep" with John Selby – will put u to bed… it’s on amazon.
5 drops of lavender or ylang ylang oil on your pillow should do the trick
nothing will do the trick. your insomnia is caused by your unsatisfaction of life. to fall asleep u have to get relaxed. there re some people who can relax even if they have miserable life or stressed or smth else. but there re some people who can’t. u can’t relax if u re not satisfied with your life. i belong to these people too. so the only cure is to fix your life and get satisfied with that. or learn how to live in peace with your problems. untill that nothing will do the trick
This is a suggestion from Oprah. Inhale deeply through your nose and exhale through your mouth. It sometimes works.
Insomnia? My middle name! I’ve tried everything known to science, even meds, and I still have it. I worked the night shift for 11 years because of it, but I couldn’t sleep in daytime either. Now that I’m retired I’ve had time to work on it. Several things. Sleep training: Make yourself stay up during the day until bedtime, then keep the same bed time every night.
-Foods: Avoid foods with caffeine, including chocolate. About 1 hour before bed, eat a lite snack of 1/2 chicken or turkey sandwich or just the meat w/one cup milk. These contain L-Trytophan which makes you sleepy. Eat your last meal of the day at least 3 hours before bed. Avoid heavy meat meals in eve. as they create extra body energy to digest and will be at it all night.
Learn relaxation techniques. You can buy videos and CDs.
Read til you "drop."
You may have to resort to some OTC med as your body needs rest. If it doesn’t get enough, then it will fail you somewhere. A good OTC is Unisom. It will not cause dependency and helps most with getting to sleep. Avoid Benadryl if you can unless you can sleep in the next morning. It can have a bad "hangover."
Teas: Hot teas such as chamomile, sleepytime, etc are great.
adding two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and two teaspoons of honey to a hot water and drinking it at bedtime helps.try placing a few dropss of lavender oil on the pulse points of the wrist and forehead before you go to bed.eating lettuce and mandarin after your evening meal helps too.
Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.
